Holding on to two things
Holding on to two things
Both hands full
How can we obtain one thing when we are looking and pursuing
two things?
That is doublemindedness
This is an instability that has to be resolved if we are
ever to see the truth
We want devotion but we refuse to be fully devoted
We want love but we refuse to be single minded and we have our
hands in all sorts of pots
Wishing something will manifest
But nothing will until we are fully committed to one
We think we can swing between light and darkness and see
clearly
We fool ourselves
If we love vice, vice is what we will get
If we love righteousness, righteousness is what we will get
The path is clear
We know what needs done
There is no secret
It is us that falls between deception and fantasy
If we desire love
We must love
If we desire
commitment
We must be committed
If we want our hearts content
We must forsake the lies and look to the truth
Behold the light
Stop fooling ourselves
Pure water cannot come from a corrupt well
Clean water only comes from a pure well
To believe otherwise is a fool’s game
We hide what we know to be wrong and foolishly think we are
clever
But it is visible, and nothing can stay hidden
We expose our own darkness to see the light
There is no shame in growth and an admission to the truth
and our own errors
No one is without error
No one can see clearly, perfectly
No one has the height of thought equal to God
We are finite
He is infinite
We are arrogant
He is omnipotent
But in the heart of man lies a reality of God
Above the noise this world produces
Above the voices and traditions, we are taught
God does not create tradition that rests on the shoulders of
man
The seedling springs forth at the command of God
He needs no help from man
But man believes himself to have power, yet he cannot even
control his own heart, he has no power over the blood that flows through his
veins or the breath that undulates through his lungs
All power belongs to God
And to submit to that power our lives find meaning
Our lives will experience love, peace, and joy
There is no other way
If both hands be full let it be to the praise of God, heart
undivided
but let not the mind travail with man for too long least you
find yourself being led by a fool
it is what is within the heart of man that corrupts not
without
